The growing abundance of domestic shale gas has placed the United States on a trajectory towards energy surplus. This has given rise to multiple projects to convert this resource into liquefied natural gas (LNG) for export to foreign markets, with much destined for Asia. This opportunity presents new questions such as the cost and business factors that make U.S. LNG competitive in global markets and the potential geostrategic consequences of this resource for the economies and countries across Asia.

Asian Americans in Energy, the Environment and Commerce (AE2C) will host a roundtable discussion surrounding these questions and others in its first event of the 2013-14 series -- Energy and the Environment in the U.S. and Asia: What’s Next?

Bill Loveless, Editorial Director for U.S. Energy Policy at Platts and host of the weekly energy-news program Platts Energy Week TV will moderate the panel including:
  • Tristan Abbey, Professional Staff Member, U.S. Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee
  • Bill Allen, Manager, Gas Business Development, Dominion Resources
  • Jane Nakano, Fellow, Energy and Security Program, Center for Strategic & International Studies
  • Robin Rorick, Director Marine and Security, American Petroleum Institute
  • Michael Shor, Partner, Arnold & Porter LLP
